DW and I want to hire a male nanny for our 3-year-old twin boys. We are a two mom household and we like the idea the idea of our boys having a positive male role model in their daily life. We also want or sons to see men in traditionally female roles, like caregiving. We have friends with a male nanny who is amazing! Unfortunately, a local male nanny was recently arrested and charged with indency with a minor. My wife is now concerned, she’s generally a very anxious person. I really don’t buy into the mindset that male caregivers are “riskier” than female caregivers. Also we will be vigilant about background checks and have cameras in our home. I’m not too worried, but would love feedback from parents and nannies alike. Thank you!
When was the last time you heard of a women molesting a boy or girl? Yes, by the numbers, males are clearly riskier!! That said, there are great male nannies and male Early Education teachers so just hire with due diligence.
Tuesday. Two college nannies were arrested and charged for molesting their 4ayear-old charge. These girls were hired through an agency that prides itself on having affordable college aged nannies.
OK, now provide the stats on the percentage of men who are pedophiles compared with the percentage of women. A one off does not a pattern make. Men are and will always be riskier around kids. That's how they're wired. Does that mean no women are ever pedophiles or child abusers? No, of course not. It just means men are statistically more likely to be abusers than women. Personally, I'd be leery of any man who wants to be alone with a child; but that's just me.
Of COuse there are scads more male pedophiles then female pedophiles. Stop being purposely obtuse.
