OP here. We'll tag team caring for the kids on the plane and of course I would be paid for that time. I also track all my own OT, so no worries in being shorted there. I was thinking $50/night overnight fee and $100/night if I were on call with the children. I will have my own room in a family home. One thing that concerns me is that I will mostly work my normal hours and be away from home for little additional pay. For those of you who have a travel rate, what is it and what is your hourly? I make $21/hr with one hour OT daily. Any additional hours will obviously be at OT rates. Lastly, this is over the holidays, so how do you charge for that? OT for the entire day of holiday?
I make $27 and hour and my travel rate is $350 a day - or any part of a day - in cash - regardless of how long or short they want me to take care of the child. I also negotiated getting the day off (paid) when we return from a trip.
