People always say, "It doesn't hurt to ask" but my position is "it doesn't hurt YOU to ask - it hurts me like hell to have to say no". Plus I think it is insulting to the nanny - I am sure she has her days full with her current charge/charges and even asking is implying that she could do it. Lastly, I would not want my child to feel second best to the nanny and that is what you child would be. Her loyalty, love and concern are for her charge and not your child.
