I think a good way of checking up on your nanny is dropping by unexpectedly once in a while, or asking other mothers at the dance group your nanny regularly takes your child to, etc. Ask a friend to watch them for a few minutes in the park. But do it rarely, a couple of times at the beginning just to make sure. Don't make it a habit. I know it's especially tricky to know if you've hired someone good when it's your first time, but the majority of nannies are good people who treat their charges well so don't worry too much.[/quote]
