I'm a nanny moving to CO. I've actually already submitted my application to ABC! They've already been in touch and of course this is something I can ask them in a call, but I'm trying to scope the market for myself as much as possible. It's funny, I couldn't find any mention of salary in any CO agency's listings (agencies around here almost always list the hourly rate), so I have no idea what to expect as far as salary. I'm making about $20/hr here in the Midwest, and I told them I'm looking for $18-$25 in CO. Do you think that sounds reasonable for the area? It looks like the cost of living is a bit higher than where I am now. [/quote]

It is reasonable, but it is also hard to find. I'm ending my current position and I am having a hard time finding what I want. I think it is hard to find a family that values having a nanny almost anywhere, and that's really what it boils down to. I have a friend who is a well paid lawyer and her husband is a well paid engineer. They paid their nanny $12/ hr with no benefits. No surprise that their kids have gone through at least 3 nannies and are now in daycare. Cheap F'ers! Good luck!  If apply to all agencies and venture out on your own. Are you moving to Denver? I have personal experience with families like you described. Needless to stay I didn't stay with them long! I'm coming from Indiana and I'll be looking around Denver. I'm crossing my fingers something perfect comes my way so we can get out there![/quote]
