$17 was the going rate according to care.com for the area. I even said after I said $17 that I was willing to go lower. I didn't actually expect 17. Would have been nice to be paid $14-15 though.[/quote]

Exactly what I just said. Nannies and agencies (and care.com included) are trying to inflate wages well beyond what any parent would ever pay. If care.com reported the actual wages how many potential sitter and nannies would want to sign up for a chance at $12 an hour? So they show $17, $20, $21+ instead to get people to sign up and pay them. [/quote]
