Many facilities understandably are not willing to take on the responsibility of monitoring a young child who is still learning to swallow while they eat chunky foods.  Given that BLW is not the reccommended/best practice advised by AAP, it would put them in a dangerous legal footing if something were to happen.  They may also not have facilities for storing and reheating food that isn't shelf stable.

How was I being judgemental?  I was trying to explain to the PP why most daycares would not be willing to just feed the baby what she eats at home if what she eats at home isn't a puree.  There are lots of things that are not an official AAP best practice that are nevertheless valid parenting choices, but most of them cannot be safely practiced by a daycare.  Another example: elimination communication, also, bedsharing.[/quote]
