Are most nannies around here really staying at 45 hours or under? Or receiving overtime?
I don't know about "most," but my nanny does (40 hrs) b/c I WAH so have no commute. Our friends, who are feds, also have their nanny 40 hours a week by doing the OP's schedule (4, 10-hour days). Both parents work a longer day so that they can have every other Friday off. So, mom covers half the Fridays and dad covers half. I actually hired a mother's helper who has some overlap with my nanny for the early mornings to help with the school run and do some housekeeping. This gives me a second person to call in case of emergency or if I need additional coverage and helps avoid overtime.
