Uh, no. If it wasn't in OP's contract to train the dogs than she has no part in it. OP, I would look for a new family. You didn't sign up to dog sit untrained dogs.
OP here. I agree. However if they were making an effort, I would enforce that during my hours. That dog could have been trained two years ago. When I talked to MB (back then) about someone letting the dogs out during the day, she said that we can let him out in the morning before the school bus and then the older child would let them out at 3. My work starts again at 4, but there is a lot of traffic, so I always leave early and almost every time I got there around 3:30, there was poop and pee on the floor and child was at the neighbor's house, where he usually goes to play with his friend. Sometimes they do homework together, or sometimes they will finish homework at school, etc. So needless to say, that didn't work. MB would "remind" him to let the dogs out after school and THEN go play with a friend, but he always forgot. No consequences, ever. Or MB leaving for work in the morning walking around pee and poop on the way out. Seriously? Smh. She didn't even expect me to do it, just wait for the kids to wake up. It gets worse. I let the dogs outside, they run around the yard, then come back in the house and the one that's not trained just poops in the house. Wow.
I get that you are frustrated, OP, but you are seriously just having a conversation with yourself on this thread. Talk to your MB and figure this out or suck it up. I'm not really sure what else you are looking for here besides someone to commiserate with you.
OP here. I know. I just needed to vent.
11.09 again. I wouldn't be in your position now, 2 years later. I've started with a family and realized that their pets (cats and dogs) were not trained, and I gave them the options. They tried and failed miserably, then they were willing to pay me extra to do it. But the only reason they knew did was because they wanted me to work for them, and getting the animals trained was included in the contract. I won't put up with that nonsense, just like I don't put up with a 3 or 4 year old using a pull up (or going on the floor!) when they are old enough to be potty trained.
