OP here. I agree.

However if they were making an effort, I would enforce that during my hours.
That dog could have been trained two years ago.
When I talked to MB (back then) about someone letting the dogs out during the day, she said that we can let him out in the morning before the school bus and then the older child would let them out at 3. My work starts again at 4, but there is a lot of traffic, so I always leave early and almost every time I got there around 3:30, there was poop and pee on the floor and child was at the neighbor's house, where he usually goes to play with his friend. Sometimes they do homework together, or sometimes they will finish homework at school, etc.
So needless to say, that didn't work. MB would "remind" him to let the dogs out after school and THEN go play with a friend, but he always forgot. No consequences, ever.

Or MB leaving for work in the morning walking around pee and poop on the way out. Seriously? Smh.
She didn't even expect me to do it, just wait for the kids to wake up.

It gets worse. I let the dogs outside, they run around the yard, then come back in the house and the one that's not trained just poops in the house. Wow.

I get that you are frustrated, OP, but you are seriously just having a conversation with yourself on this thread. Talk to your MB and figure this out or suck it up. I'm not really sure what else you are looking for here besides someone to commiserate with you.

OP here.
I know. I just needed to vent.

11.09 again. I wouldn't be in your position now, 2 years later. I've started with a family and realized that their pets (cats and dogs) were not trained, and I gave them the options. They tried and failed miserably, then they were willing to pay me extra to do it. But the only reason they knew did was because they wanted me to work for them, and getting the animals trained was included in the contract. I won't put up with that nonsense, just like I don't put up with a 3 or 4 year old using a pull up (or going on the floor!) when they are old enough to be potty trained.

Shame on you both.

OP here. I work before/after school + occasional hours when there is no school, half days, etc.
I tried to train. But I am the only one. Nobody else does anything. They start, but they don't follow through.
If I'm here during the day, I let them out multiple times. On the days where I'm only at work before/after school, there is always pee/poop on the floor by the time the older child comes from school.
They don't think about hiring a dog walker. They don't seem to think it's a big deal. They kids think it's normal for a dog to poop/pee in the house.
That dog poops and pees every night, so in the morning when I walk in, I have to watch my steps right when I walk in the house. They clean it up (eventually). Like today, the pee on the floor finally got cleaned up by one of the kids at 11:30. Since 7. I told my MB to watch out for the pee on the floor when she was leaving. She knew it was there.

OP again.
Yes, I knew about the dog. Nearly every family I worked for had a dog (or dogs.)
I just never assumed that nobody would teach him to pee/poop outside.

Nanny here. I won't put up with a dog that isn't trained. The family has three choices: train the dog themselves, pay someone else to train the dog, or pay me extra to train the dog. I'm quite willing to do it, but it will be extra, because my job is childcare, not patcare.

I would not accept that nonsense for less than $50/hr.
They're probably thinking they're now paying you for all that crap. Literally!

You need to determine your priorities and exercise some boundaries. Sounds like none of you have any.

Or get a new job.

I'm sure you are frustrated, but I don't really think you have say regarding their dogs. If it's too much for you then look for another family.

I've been with this family for 2 years.
When I started, they had one dog they got a month earlier. Cute little puppy.
I love dogs.
What I didn't know was that nobody would actually bother to train him.
They now have two dogs (one stray that the kids found).
The stray dog is fine, the one they got two years ago still poops and pees in the house wherever he wants to.
At the beginning I was cleaning up his messes, only because the gated area where the dogs are includes the kitchen and the laundry room, so it was always in the way and I didn't want to step in it.
Later I realized that nobody was serious about changing anything.
They keep saying he is just a baby, he is getting better, etc.
Nothing changes.
Every morning there is pee or/and poop on the floor.
They "tried." MB got crates a few months ago. But she would let him out in the middle of the night if he was too loud and put him in her bed. Needless to say, the dog would not stay in the crate.
I make the kids clean up if they are home.
Either way, I have my hands full with that dog.
Don't get me wrong, he is the cutest (maltese). It's not his fault that he hasn't been trained.

I was off for a few days because of the storm and my boss had her boyfriend stay with them. He brought his dog with him.
When I got to work yesterday, that dog was still there. I said (half seriously) that I would keep him outside until he got picked up. MB said that he would probably get picked up at some point. Well guess what? The dog is still here today.
MB's BF lives 10-15 min away. He works from home sometimes. I know he is around. My MB just tells him to leave the dog here. WTF?!?
I tried talking to her and making it clear that I didn't want an extra dog dumped on me.
I even said something to the BF once - he showed up in the morning and I told him that he forgot to take his dog home the night before. He said he didn't forget. I said in that case, it would be $50. We laughed, but I thought he got the point. He didn't.
(I posted a while ago about having an extra dog (and asking for more money) when they went out of town)

So at this point, do I just accept there is another dog in the house?
I just got a raise a few weeks ago, so I don't want to rock the boat.
But it bothers me. This dog was not part of the deal.
My MB says that he is just another baby, that he is just here and I don't have to do anything, it's her future "step-dog" and stuff like that.
He is sleeping on my legs as we sleep (the kids are sleeping upstairs)
It's frustrating when they all start barking. He is the loudest out of all.
And frankly, I think 3 dogs is a little too much.

WWYD in my situation?
