I've been with this family for 2 years. When I started, they had one dog they got a month earlier. Cute little puppy. I love dogs. What I didn't know was that nobody would actually bother to train him. They now have two dogs (one stray that the kids found). The stray dog is fine, the one they got two years ago still poops and pees in the house wherever he wants to. At the beginning I was cleaning up his messes, only because the gated area where the dogs are includes the kitchen and the laundry room, so it was always in the way and I didn't want to step in it. Later I realized that nobody was serious about changing anything. They keep saying he is just a baby, he is getting better, etc. Nothing changes. Every morning there is pee or/and poop on the floor. They "tried." MB got crates a few months ago. But she would let him out in the middle of the night if he was too loud and put him in her bed. Needless to say, the dog would not stay in the crate. I make the kids clean up if they are home. Either way, I have my hands full with that dog. Don't get me wrong, he is the cutest (maltese). It's not his fault that he hasn't been trained. I was off for a few days because of the storm and my boss had her boyfriend stay with them. He brought his dog with him. When I got to work yesterday, that dog was still there. I said (half seriously) that I would keep him outside until he got picked up. MB said that he would probably get picked up at some point. Well guess what? The dog is still here today. MB's BF lives 10-15 min away. He works from home sometimes. I know he is around. My MB just tells him to leave the dog here. WTF?!? I tried talking to her and making it clear that I didn't want an extra dog dumped on me. I even said something to the BF once - he showed up in the morning and I told him that he forgot to take his dog home the night before. He said he didn't forget. I said in that case, it would be $50. We laughed, but I thought he got the point. He didn't. (I posted a while ago about having an extra dog (and asking for more money) when they went out of town) So at this point, do I just accept there is another dog in the house? I just got a raise a few weeks ago, so I don't want to rock the boat. But it bothers me. This dog was not part of the deal. My MB says that he is just another baby, that he is just here and I don't have to do anything, it's her future "step-dog" and stuff like that. He is sleeping on my legs as we sleep (the kids are sleeping upstairs) It's frustrating when they all start barking. He is the loudest out of all. And frankly, I think 3 dogs is a little too much. WWYD in my situation?
