You can't act like you have somewhere to rush off to each day, nor should you have to. MBs and DBs should respect the time THEY designated as the end time. This is not about occasionally being 5 minutes late. This is about the daily 10-20 minute conversations that occur unpaid and unrecognized. And when something happens multiple times each week, it is no longer occasional!
this is my issue. I don't want to be dishonest and pretend Im going somewhere. I shouldn't have to do that at all. I just need to leave even if its because I like walking into my own home no later than 5:45 so i can walk my dog before sundown. On top of this Ive mentioned my traffic issue with her more than once. She doesn't drive but 4 miles to work and a straight shot. I however have to get on an interstate. yesterday we needed to chat about one of my charges appointments so I notice she came home 15 minutes early. I loved the consideration but with him pulling on her and interrupting etc it was still 5:10 by the time I got in my car. Which in turn gives all other drivers that get off at 5 a 10 minute leg up and the streets get clogged. Annoying Im just going to have my things close to the door and after i brief her immediately put my bag on and say "ok have a great night!" We are still getting to know one another so I think that is the biggest reason for her wanting to converse with me so much. But she needs to do like pp said and have lunch with me occasionally. I had one mb that took me to lunch once a month to a restaurant of my choosing so that we could talk etc. And she worked from home. I know this isn't logical for everyone and I honestly don't want to go out to lunch but it seems to be a need of hers mainly i posted to see if other nannies have this going on or if its something about me that says "talk to me". Im not a small talk person as is. And i wanted other mbs to be aware because you could lose a good nanny over something like this if its consistent
So why don't you just stay 25-30 minutes more so you can leave at 5:30 when the streets are clear?
Why should she have to do that, when she gets paid to leave at a time that otherwise would work out fine, that is if she was ever able to leave then.
