We have to go home too. Nannies have lives too. We need to run errands too. We hate traffic too. Talking to nannies for 5 minutes, ok. But stretching to 10-20 minutes convos, "showing me something" or asking if you can change really quick is not ok! UGH my mb and I text throughout the day AND I leave a daily report that is extremely and probably too detailed. Yet everyday she seems to think I want to keep chatting and hear about her day or talk in depth about my charge's days. I DONT. If I was hired to get off of work at 5 I need to be headed out by 5:05 unless there is a reason you're late. I don't get the inconsideration or ignorance about this. I have had 3 women that do this to me and its rude. The worst was the one that would come in and ignore me trying to fill her in on our day so she could get down on her kids levels and ask them questions she knew darn well they wouldn't even answer accurately. TALK TO ME. I can tell what REALLY happened at school because we know he is just going to fib or say he doesn't know! Im the adult and need to go home. I nipped that in the bud by picking up my keys and putting my shoes and she began to chase after me to talk more. Nope. Now I have one that definitely gives me her attention and listens but tries to stretch out the convo. Thank God sometimes her husband comes home at the same time and distracts her so I can hurry and say bye. Granted it usually takes me 20 minutes or so to get home from this side of town, but hello! 5 o'clock traffic means 40 at least and in bad weather nearly an hour if I don't hurry and beat all I can. I notice dads dont do this. They barely want to hear anything. I wish there was some in between. Is this just me or do other nannies deal with this a lot also?
