Also, they have a much much lower rate if you are driving for a non-profit ($0.14/mile) or medical moving (serving as ambulance) ($0.23/mile). I have always felt that the IRS maximum is very generous and IRS acknowledges it is the maximum that can be paid for reimbursement, before being considered income that can be taxed. (Otherwise people will say they are paying $50.00/mile to "reimburse" to make it tax-free salary.) It only exists so that people do not abuse it to get around paying tax. [/quote]
