My previous NF lived in a townhome community. It was a great neighborhood, but the people next door were retired, so they were home all day. In the summer, the community was always having work done. One summer, they seemed to be working on the roof and gutters for 6 weeks on top of all of the yard work that was constantly going on.

It put me over the edge when the community manager came and rang the doorbell EIGHT times during my charge's naptime when the front door was open and I was sitting on the couch right next to the door. He could see me, and still rang the bell multiple times. Then when I came to the door, he said it wasn't important since my MB wasn't home. WTF.

People won't really care if you have children, and it is expected that you will hear some noise. If you don't want to talk directly to the people upstairs, and if your NF won't do anything, have you considered maybe placing an anonymous complaint with the landlord? Not sure how that would work since you're not on the lease, but in my complex if any complaints are made they have to issue a "friendly reminder."[/quote]
