We are hiring a part time nanny for 3 full days a week. She is asking for 3 paid sick days, paid holidays and anytime we are out of town she would like to be paid as well. For a full time many position this seems pretty standard. Is this standard for a part time position as well?
This sounds reasonable. She is probably cobbling together a FT salary through your PT position and a 2-day/week position; it makes perfect sense she'd want guaranteed hours. Losing ~30hrs worth of pay in a week would be tough on any hourly employee. If it were one day a week that might be different, but three full days is a very heavy PT schedule; to hire a good/experienced nanny for that you'll need to offer most, if not all, of those benefits. Paid holidays should only be ones that fall on working days, and vacation should be prorated as a pp said (six days).
