Nanny here, I take my charges too my house sometimes to watch TV so I can take care of some things. I don't know if MB knows or not but I don't see the problem. It's a win win in my mind. I don't do it all the time, but those times when it would really be helpful for me to have 10 minutes to take care of something I couldn't get done before I left for work it seems totally fine.
The fact that you dont see a problem with this is a problem. Not an issue if its not a problem for your employer, but you need to clear it with them.
So what exactly is the problem in your mind? I'm paid to care for the children, and those 10 minutes don't prevent me from caring for the children. Like I said, if it was everyday or constant that I would agree it is not very good care, but when you take the whole week as a whole (or even the month since I rarely do it) those 10 minutes don't really matter.
First of all, it's hard to beleive that you are spending 10 minutes or less actually travelling to your home, putting the kids in front of the tv, accomplishing what you need to do, getting the kids back to the car, and traveling back. You are being paid to take care of the kids, so, if you are taking them some place solely for your benefit, you should clear this with the parents. If it's truly just occasionally, and they are reasonable, it won't be a problem. But it's kind of common sense that doing your personal business on the clock should be cleared with the people paying you.
