The fact that you dont see a problem with this is a problem.

Not an issue if its not a problem for your employer, but you need to clear it with them.

So what exactly is the problem in your mind? I'm paid to care for the children, and those 10 minutes don't prevent me from caring for the children. Like I said, if it was everyday or constant that I would agree it is not very good care, but when you take the whole week as a whole (or even the month since I rarely do it) those 10 minutes don't really matter.

First of all, it's hard to beleive that you are spending 10 minutes or less actually travelling to your home, putting the kids in front of the tv, accomplishing what you need to do, getting the kids back to the car, and traveling back.

You are being paid to take care of the kids, so, if you are taking them some place solely for your benefit, you should clear this with the parents. If it's truly just occasionally, and they are reasonable, it won't be a problem. But it's kind of common sense that doing your personal business on the clock should be cleared with the people paying you.

+1. Our nanny has taken DCs to her house in occasion and I have no problem with it because she ASKED me. If she did it without my knowledge though I'd have a major problem.

Of course you should fire her. Asking your son to lie about her actions/behavior is cause to fire her regardless of what she is doing.

Clearly fire her... But how do you know 100%?

I didn't know that "The Cookie Monster" comes on DCUrbanMomsandDads. What the hell??! This isn't for puppets damn it...Well sock puppets perhaps.

To answer your question OP, this is a no-brainer.

Fire her.

She is teaching your son to lie to you.

This question is so absurd I cannot believe it is even real.

Yes, fire her. She is blatantly ignoring your instructions and she is taking the child to her personal residence without your consent and actively trying to hide it from you. These are not things a trustworthy employee does.

Stronger teeth from sugar? Interesting theory.

If you let him eat some cookies he might get stronger teeth. If your 3 year old has cavities you have bigger problems.

Nanny takes our son to her house WITHOUT our knowledge or consent. She gives him cookies there and allows to watch TV ... Moreover, she tells him not to tell Mom or Dad, so she acutally teaches him lying.

It doesn't happen very often but it happens.

Should we fire her?
