We have been looking for a FT nanny (40 hrs/week) for a while and we finally found someone we love but we are not sure about our offer. We have 3 children: ages 4, 2 and 6 months. The 4 year old is in school 5 days a week and the 2 year old will be going 3 mornings starting in June and then 5 in September. I work 2-3 days a week and so the days I'm not working I will either take 1 of the children with me somewhere or have the nanny take one somewhere so most days she will only have 1 or 2 children to watch. Sometimes she will have all 3 though. She will have to drive the children to and from school most days as well but we will provide a car for her. So here's what we are thinking for the offer: $20/hr for a guaranteed 40 hrs/week. $30/hr for any OT she may occasionally work. 2 weeks PTO of her choosing plus 5 sick days and some extra time off around Xmas. Federal holidays that DH and I have off but does not include ALL Federal holidays but I will provide list now. Oh and all on the books. We pay $18/hr now for a PT nanny who is very good but can't work FT which we need. The nanny we are thinking of hiring has about 10 years of experience but not with 3 children. The most she's worked with is 2. No background in ECE. English is not her first language which is not out preference but she has the personality we are looking for and her English is understandable certainly. Please be kind in your responses. I'm honestly trying to be fair but if we start much higher than $20/hr we won't have much room for annual raises.
This sounds fine to me, I'm sure she will accept. Be sure to budget for some kind of Christmas bonus too!
