Let's see the risk is not primarily on them, as an employee (which a nanny is) she could get huge fines from the irs just as many if not more than the employer. Not paying taxes is like stealing from the government and is unfair to other nannies who follow the law. If you worked in an office would you still say why do you care? If you would your an idiot. If nannies want employers and the public in general to take this field professionally then we need to operate the same way "real" jobs work and pay taxes just like they do. I believe this is why so many people don't see nannies as professionals or that it's a real job and just babysitting (side note babysitting money should also be filed but that is rare). I don't care how nice a family is if they ask me to break the law then we are not a good fit Ignorance to the law doesn't make you not guilty. [/quote]
