Valentine's Day is for couples. Not for kids. So what's the point of having the kids do something for their parents? I am a mom and would find it really weird if my nanny gave me something from my kids related to that special day that doesn't concern them at all.
Are you serious? Did you go to public elementary school in the US? (if you didn't, that's fine...just wondering) It's very normal for children in the US to celebrate valentine's day. Crafts and baking projects are very common. Young children often bring cards/treats to school to pass out to peers. Most kids I know make cards for everyone; friends, family members, parents. Not as big of a deal as Christmas but anyone that is around on that day would probably get a card. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that if your nanny does have your kids make you something, it's not "really weird" for many people. I would hope that you'd at least be gracious.
