I am a mom and would find it really weird if my nanny gave me something from my kids related to that special day that doesn't concern them at all.

I place a very high value on my nanny consciously working to develop my kids' emotional intelligence and social skills. It's far more important in the pre-school years than learning ABCs and counting skills. Valentine's Day is a perfect excuse to start teaching young kids about love, what it feels like to give and receive it, how to show care for others, etc.

Yes, who gives a rip about making memories and fun experiences for your children! She should clean your house! And this goes without saying....she's probably too stupid to do both

Ignore the PP who is only posting to start an argument. No halfway decent parent would say something like that.

3:39-

"The U.S. Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately 190 million valentines are sent each year in the US. Half of those valentines are given to family members other than husband or wife, usually to children. When you include the valentine-exchange cards made in school activities the figure goes up to 1 billion, and teachers become the people receiving the most valentines."

Are you serious? Did you go to public elementary school in the US? (if you didn't, that's fine...just wondering)

It's very normal for children in the US to celebrate valentine's day. Crafts and baking projects are very common. Young children often bring cards/treats to school to pass out to peers. Most kids I know make cards for everyone; friends, family members, parents. Not as big of a deal as Christmas but anyone that is around on that day would probably get a card.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that if your nanny does have your kids make you something, it's not "really weird" for many people. I would hope that you'd at least be gracious.

We've been talking about love, hearts, family and pink for the past month.
Today I hid paper hearts around the play area and they had a hunt. It was cute.

Last week we mixed red and white paints to make pink and of course the tissue paper hearts. Plus other stuff like reading books with love in it, family based books, looking at family pictures, etc.

As we don't do sugar or any processed foods the treats and all around any holiday is a no go. Maybe when they are older. They are 20 month old triplets, by the way.

+1. It makes me wonder what percentage of nannies on here regularly take the time to plan quality learning activities for their charges. I guess that time is being spent complaining about employers not giving them all the bonuses, PTO, and other perks to which they feel entitled.

I'll browse pinterest, but my charge is too little for a craft. I might try and get a handprint or footprint for a craft, but it'll depend on if I can find the time.

I'll help the older toddler cut out hearts and color on them for her parents.

I have plans to do a baking activity with my charges (chocolate strawberry muffins!), and I'm thinking of an art activity that we could do, and I'm wondering what fun activities you all are planning, or have done in the past? Thanks for sharing!
