Child is potty trained including nap and bed time but doesn't speak well yet. Only 19 months old right now. Has not had an accident with me in months. I would consider that potty trained. At home the child goes on the potty all the time. When a child hasn't worn a diaper in over a month and has had no accidents how is that not potty trained. [/quote]

Does s/he not have a sign to let you know? A way to answer yes/no about using the bathroom? If they literally cannot communicate their bathroom needs, I agree with the PP that they aren't "potty trained," although I would have serious questions about much bigger issues at that point...[/quote]

We never had the child use a sign since potty training went so well. At 15 months almost  completely done. But like I said I did worry about going out in public and put a diaper on even when the child was completely potty trained.  Just my own fears accidents happening in unfamiliar environments. Thankfully now no problems as now the child is older and can tell me. [/quote]
