Don't let this get you down OP. In the long run, you did them a HUGE favor by turning the job down. Imagine if you were one of those nannies who accepted the job, knowing full well you weren't going to be 100% happy w/it, but you took it because you were desperate and needed the money, etc. Then after their child bonded w/you, you bailed on them. You did the mature thing here OP and I am sure the family realizes this too. Kudos to you for doing what many nannies do not do. Stick to your guns. Your dream job is just around the corner.
People take jobs all the time that they aren't thrilled with. A job is a job, and if you are struggling financially you don't have the luxury of being picky. That doesn't make someone a bad nanny any more than turning down an offer makes OP a bad nanny. Its a job, and you do what you have to do. Enough with the nanny guilt. We're mere employees when it suits you, and we owe you loyalty for life and doing what's best for us will shatter your world when it suits you. Enough. Good luck in your job search OP, and remember that its just a job. Don't feel bad for taking care of you.
