OP here, thanks for all the positive encouragement. You're all correct. As an update the MB I sit for was still annoyed for me today and went over to the other mother's home. The mom was embarrassed and apologized to my MB. MB told her she needed to apologize to me next time I sat.
If I was your MB, I would have told the neighbor that her kids were no longer allowed to play in your backyard. You can bet that they would sue/have sued your employers if anything happened. The nerve!
Actually DB is a Lawyer. Last year after a boy broke his arm while playing in their yard, DB and his neighbors drew up parent release forms. If your kid wants to come play in the four back yards, you have to sign a waiver. There are sometimes up to 15 kids out back. Everyone has a fantastic playground set. I thought that was weird at first, but this day and age it makes sense. I doubt the little girl and her brother will get a form. My bosses are not keen on someone not knowing where their child was for such a long period of time. Everyone of their neighbors may "watch out" for each child in the evenings, but they are not babysitting anyone's child.
Meant to say OP here, and maybe they SHOULD get a form if they happen to wander over again!
