How much do you charge to have someone look after you 3 year old and 1 year old during the week and then pickup 6 year old from school and take to gymnsatics and piano? Do you provide a car? It would be about 30-40 hours a week. We had an au pair but she just left and I think given i'm a single dad, live out is the better way to go.
You might have to provide a car -- I don't know many nannies who have the space for three kids in their cars. I'm sure some do, so if your nanny happens to drive a mini van or suv, you won't have to provide a car. Mileage reimbursement is a must, however. rate depends on your location. If the hours will vary week to week, you should guarantee a certain amount of hours to give the nanny some stability. If you think you'll use her 40 hours most weeks, pay for 40 -- even if you only use 35 one week, still pay for the full 40. Otherwise you run the risk of her not always being available during the times you need her.
