It's not that hard to find a car that can fit 2 car seats for the younger ones and then a booster for the 6 yr old. You just need the right type of seats. One of my families has a Prius and they fit just fine.

We had an au pair but she just left and I think given i'm a single dad, live out is the better way to go.

rate depends on your location. If the hours will vary week to week, you should guarantee a certain amount of hours to give the nanny some stability. If you think you'll use her 40 hours most weeks, pay for 40 -- even if you only use 35 one week, still pay for the full 40. Otherwise you run the risk of her not always being available during the times you need her.

You can either provide a car or make having a safe, reliable car a requirement of your nanny candidates (ie. don't interview anyone who doesn't) and then pay IRS mileage reimbursement to her. In that case you would also need to provide a full set of car seats she could keep in her car.
Rates depend on where you are and what you are looking for in a nanny, both in terms of experience/qualifications and in terms of job duties (grocery shopping? cooking? housekeeping?) so anywhere from $15/hr - $22/hr is probay a reasonable range.
