If you're using your vehicle to drive the children either at the parents' request (pick up from school, drive to soccer practice) or because they live too far from activities you'd otherwise walk to (libraries, parks, pools) they should reimburse you at IRS rate. However, I personally think that if the parents don't ask you to drive/you could walk most places and you choose to drive simply because you prefer it, you should accept the cost of gas/wear and tear.
