Op here: when I posted this she had been screaming 20 minutes, I allowed it 15 more minutes before I went in and quietly placed her on the guest bed and layed with her for a minute - she's now fast asleep. Do you think next time I should just let her cry a bit longer? I know CIO works but I need to know at wht time limit does it become more neglectful then helpful? I just want to do the right thing for her
CIO only works if you let her cry until she falls asleep (I have waited for over an hour), but whatever you do, you need to be consistent. As of right now, she is learning that if she screams loud enough, she will not have to sleep in her crib. Talk with the parents and see how they want to approach it. They may not be concerned about where she is sleeping as long as it happens, or they may really want her to be in her crib.
