Eh. Have you see that blog "reasons my son is crying" or something like that? It's a whole blog that was viral a while ago with pictures of kids upset about ridiculous things. Now that said, as an MB, I would prefer my nanny be interested in determining why my child was crying and being sympathetic to his needs rather than rushing off to get her camera. And it would probably make me question her judgment that she then went and posted it and laughed at my child in distress. But if she was otherwise fantastic and I had already told her she could post pictures of my kids, I probably wouldn't dwell on it. Sometimes kids do have ridiculous tantrums.
So for example, yesterday my charge had a ten minute tantrum when I offered her water rather than milk. I knew why she was upset, and I was sympathetic to her frustration, but them's the breaks and MB, DB and I are very clear that we don't want to reward her outbursts with attention (and attention does seem to prolong them for her). I removed her from the middle of the kitchen, sat her down in the living room and left the room while she got herself sorted out. Once she did she drank some water and we got right back to playing. I suspect the nanny in question experienced something similar. Some kids melt down over virtually anything (or nothing) and you really do have to have a sense of humor because kids are absurd little creatures and if you can't laugh, you'll cry. (And I doubt she had to "rush off to get her camera," she probably used her phone that was in her pocket?) But I would never post distressing pictures of my charges online the way I might with my own kids and I could understand how even a down to earth, easy-going MB might not be happy about it. I think this really has to be, like so many things, just a matter of what the parents are comfortable with or not.
