If you actually found the melatonin in your son's room I would definitely fire her. Keep in mind though that nannies can get VERY good at getting their charges to nap. In my last job the 9 month old would take great naps for me during the week but wouldn't nap at all for the parents on the weekends. Not sure why this happened.
At first I thought you were just going to comment on the baby napping better for the nanny then for you. That's pretty normal. My SIL's nanny used the swing on high for naps and my SIL would not (she was trying crib training), so of course my nephew napped better for the nanny. My nanny extended all of DC's naps early on by holding DC whereas I was usually doing housework during naps, and so DC learned that long naps were expected with her. Nannies are good at encouraging good naps. It's part of the job. Babies sleep differently for different caregivers. But finding the melatonin? That would be a firing offense for me. I don't want my nanny bringing in medication to my home, even if it is not administered. That's a zero tolerance issue.
