Maybe someone can clarify this more-and as I type this it is almost uncomfortable, but really...if the doors are locked, the car is off and in full view/10 feet away at all times, where is the harm in running in to pay for gas for 90 seconds? Not being snarky, I would really just love a reasonable explanation, aside from just don't do it, because I've been there and not done it, but would it really be so terrible if I did??
I'm pretty laid back about leaving my 4yo out of direct contact in many situations. Restrooms, park, for example, if she's in sight she can be pretty far away. However, never in a car. Biggest reasons I can think of: it gets hot in a car really quickly. People steal cars. Cars break. ( I was actually in a car at age 4 where the emergency brake failed and I rolled accross the street into another house. I still remember it.) Kids at some point will climb into front seat to pretend to drive (obviously not an infant issue!) Also, you can get easily delayed or distracted when paying for gas. Cc doesn't go through, line is long.
