I have former employers who do this as well. It's nice knowing that I have another set of ears during the interview process.

Years ago I had 2 former employers call to warn me about a woman I had interviewed with. The disrespect this potential employer showed my former employers caused me to turn down the position. Fast forward about 5 months and I ran into that family while vacationing with the family I ended up working for. Wow was I thankful for my former employers for warning me about this woman. She treated her husband horribly. Her children were miserable and the nanny was getting ready to quit. The whole situation was dysfunctional due to this woman and her behavior/attitude.
