Horrible if true (I couldn't get your link to work). There is no worse crime in the world than abusing a child. What breaks my heart even more is how the child still wants to be with the parents who abuses them.

Your so-called nanny, isn't a nanny at all, OP. Even the article itself refers to the horrific abuser as a babysitter. She looks like she hasn't slept in 10 days.

She's no nanny, but maybe the family couldn't afford a nanny, but good thing they COULD afford cameras to nail the bitch.

This story IS true as I have also read it on the People.com website.

And it made me ill.

I feel for the little girl as well as her parent(s). This nanny is just sick, sick sick + no child or parent should have had to endure such pain.

In addition to being burned, the child also was thrown on the ground as well.

These cases are very few + far between and as a loving Nanny, I can say that I would rather walk over broken glass barefoot than ever hurt a child like this.

This nanny makes all nannies look bad, but keep in mind...There is always that ONE bad apple. Or two...

By the way the Nanny was illegal alien. Why on first place you hire an illegal nanny?
Anonymous
Can we please stop calling her a nanny?

She isn't a nanny. She's an illegal. Do you think the parents didn't want to pay more for a legal person who is a nanny?

Oh. The irony.

What does her immigration status have to do with her title as a nanny? You just sound ignorant.
If she calls herself a nanny, she is. Plain and simple. Until there is a professional governing board, certification, or license required, ANYONE who says they are a nanny is one. Continuing to argue the semantics of it is just tiring and does nothing to address the real issues here.

The parents were irresponsible in hiring her. Period.

Horrible, horrible thing for a little one to have to endure. I blame the parents but hope this babysitter rots in jail.

If you believe she was a nanny, you're a fool.

Was "semantics" just too big of a word for you?

So if I say I am a Senator, or a horse groomer, or an illegal bookie, or even a mother, does that make me what I claim to be?

Yes, any sad sack can call themselves a nanny. Doesn't make their claim valid. That's why parents with a decent level of savvy don't think a care.com $10 "background check" is sufficient, why they don't just blindly believe all the "references" are legitimate, and why they hire people who are in the country legally and then PAY them legally as well.

If you wouldn't trust a lawyer who was an illegal immigrant and wanted to be paid in cash to do your legal work, why the ever loving H#{{ would you trust someone like that to care for your children?

When someone tells me they're a nanny, I'm always curious why they believe so.

If you told me you were a Senator or a lawyer, I would ask for your credentials to back up that claim. Tell me, what special certificate do you posses that makes your title of "nanny" any more valid than that of an 18 year old girl who babysits two days a week or an illegal immigrant who cares for the same child 50 hours a week?

My original point is that it is COMPLETELY arbitrary. It's tiring on these boards that any time a person acts out of turn, the response is to say "Well she's not a REAL nanny". There is no damn such thing.
