Troll. A 5 month old isn't reaching for you. Learn child development.

You should leave asap. My mum, always tells me, to start everything, as I wish to continue... I don't see the behavior of this family improving.

First off, I'm not a troll and secondly, yes a 5 month old can motion for reaching towards you. If you have nothing nice to say, get off my post.

Another MB here and I think you should quit immediately. Like a PP I only read the first issue before I thought you were 100% right in wanting to quit. I know it's hard when you like the child so much but if you have a lot of previous experience it shouldn't be hard for you to find another position with a non-special needs child. This one will not get better, only worse.

Good luck!

Of course you should quit OP. I'm curious as to why you are even unsure about this. It will NOT work out - not even worth tryign to discuss since there is so much wrong here.

I would provide her with a revised contract of my own and let her think about it. If you are in a position to quit I would do so. Or I would continue looking for work and when you find another position quit. I personally wouldn't even give her a two week notice. It would be done on a Friday and I would send her an email after cashing my check letting her know that I believe I am not great fit for your family and the laundry list of expectations that were not initially in the contract.

Thanks for all of your responses. I gave notice that I will be picking up my check and tomorrow and won't be returning. I have a little to tide me over until I find a new family. Thankfully, I've never really stopped looking and still have families trying to set up interviews.

Good for you. I'm an MB. What you're describing is inexcusable - absolutely no need for you to put up with it. Hope your next position is infinitely better!

I bet they are paying you like $800+ a week so hence all the additional crap they do. What's it pay.

That is a ridiculously illegal rate of pay if you work in the US. Minimum wage (federal) is $7.25, and even if you're a LI getting no OT, you should still make minimum wage for every hour worked. And the rate may be higher where you are, and you may be working where LI nannies get OT as well.

Minimum wage for 80 hours over two weeks is $580.

Find something else and leave as fast as you can!
