bad advice. it's as if you're scolding a child. "If you don't email by the time I count to three....."

Something could have happened so try to contact her and see what she says. If she doesn't respond within a week, then you CAN post something, but it really is your call.

As a parent, I would only post something negative about someone if they were a horrible childcare provider. I.e., negligent, abusive, etc.
Not for someone who was a no show for an interview.
If she was a no show for a job and didn't call, then yes, that would be a whole different thing.

This is perfect advice.

OP, did you hear back from her??

OP, are you annoyed enough about the no-show to limit this person's ability to find any further jobs through care.com?

Because a negative review will do just that. Parents (since they pay to keep care running) can post whatever they wish, and nannies who try to have the reviews removed by care get banned from the site.

If you had HIRED this person and she did a no show, then sure, post a review. But it seems petty, especially since your review will be on her "permanent record", to write a review for this.

I think you're being vindictive. This type of thing happens to nannies too only there is no recours ebecause care.com doesn't allow nannies to review parents. The review feature is to report their child care skills not their interview skills. Maybe you scared her off before the interview...you definitely give off the vibe of someone I wouldn't want to meet in person.

Do we not feel that it is in a parent's best interest to know that the nanny they're emailing with and setting time aside to meet with might not show up to her interview? I agree that posting a bad review might be over the top in this scenario, but I could also see wanting to alert other families so they wouldn't invest a lot of time or energy into a flaky candidate.

+1. The person no called no showed. State it. You could rosy it up- state maybe they were confused etc... but in the end they no called no showed. Someone like that shouldn't be in childcare and letting prospective parents know saves them a huge headache.

I agree with this. Unless she was dead or in a coma, she should have at least called to say whatever came up to prevent her from keeping her apptmt came up. OP can always amend or post an update later if the person calls to say she was, in fact, in a horrific car accident that left her unconscious for a couple of days or whatever.

I'm not familiar with care.com's review policy. Does it have to be "negative" ? Is there a "Neutral" ? Or a way to simply comment, so you could leave the information without putting a big x on her profile?

I don't understand the prior posters who think an MB should refrain from leaving a factual review that says simply that the candidate failed to appear for an interview and failed to respond to follow up messages asking what happened. Why does it matter that the nanny can't get the review removed? She had an opportunity to cancel the meeting beforehand and another opportunity to explain after the fact what happened. She chose not to bother. As an MB, I would consider that information reflective of the nanny's character and material to a hiring decision.

I've actually passed on candidates before precisely because they had no-show reviews online, and I very much appreciated the fellow parents who took the time to post their experience. It's too bad the nanny or sitter loses work, but it is a result of her own doing.

I agree. Only ever had a no show once because of car trouble but immediately called paren and rescheduled. Respect for a person's time goes both ways.

I also agree with this.

Poor communications and a lack of professionalism are major red flags for me. If someone no shows and never calls I consider that a gift of them showing their true colors early on.
