Do you provide Health Insurance for your full time nanny? Which insurance provider does your nanny use and what is the overall cost for the policy? |
We just decided to pay the nanny more so that she could find her own policy.
|
Do you give her a separate check, so you both aren't erroneously paying taxes on that?
|
nope. no separate check. |
We do. Nanny uses Cigna and it is a little over $500 a month for PPO. We write her a separate check and keep a copy of the bill in case we get audited. This nanny has been with us a long time so we give her this perk. |
Health insurance payments to nanny, should be made with a separate check. Indicate in the memo line that it is for health insurance coverage. You can confirm this with your CPA. |
I am a nanny - I receive a separate check as my stipend for health insurance. FWIW, I receive $150 a month for health insurance and my policy is $220 a month, so I do pay for some of it, but I certainly appreciate the perk regardless! |
Most professional nannies commonly expect health insurance as part of their compensation package. If she already has coverage under her husband's policy, you can offer a comparable, but different, benefit. |
$500? ![]() |
Lots of nannies have health issues, pp. |
She is in her forties with pre-existing conditions. |
How does taxes work out if you include it in salary? We do a separate check. |
Don't understand your question. More details please. |
You do a separate check. |
Doing a separate check means nanny doesn't have to pay SS/Med/FIT/SIT on that money, and that employers don't have to pay THEIR share of taxes on the money either. |
