I was hired to watch kids, not clean their crap. I'm already underpaid for watching two kids, they're lucky I even clean up after the kids!
I got to work today and the wet towels and clothes that I didn't get a chance to wash yesterday (because theres a MOUNTAIN of them!) haven't been touched, and the same load of laundry that was in the washer and dryer when I left is still in the machines... And I'm expected to finish them today. It STINKS, these towels have been sitting soaked since Monday morning when the toilet overflowed, most of them were already dirty before then! I don't mind doing laundry related to the kids, I DO mind not being paid for it and washing clothes that got wet because they were sitting already dirty on the floor when they should have been picked up! I really think I'll be leaving after Friday... I'm trying to make myself stick it out till the 22nd so she can have a little over a week to find someone new over spring break, but I don't know if I can put up with this anymore. I had to lock myself in the bathroom to quit shaking and calm down today!

Before working for her, I was a cashier at a local groccery store and babysat on the side. I worked 10 hour days and had great coworkers but wanted something more permanent. My sister-in-law told me that this lady was looking for a babysitter for 2 kids for 250.00 a week. I quit being a cashier to work for her even though it was only about $5.00 an hour because even though it was a few more hours, I love kids and I would be making about the same pay. I had planned on taking online college classes while the kids took naps. For the first few weeks it was a great job, but she started getting back later, adding more hours, and adding more responsibilities. It was gradual changes, but now my job is nothing like it was when I agreed to work for her. I made the mistake of trusting them so I never had a contract, but I'm kinda glad I don't have a contract cause legally nothing is stopping me from leaving!

It's not fake drama. I'm serious. I've been working for them for a little over 6 months, this is my first official job as a nanny. I've been babysitting for 10 years though, I've watched my sisters 7 kids and my brothers 3 kids all day at the same time, I've babysat for several families that I'm friends with, I'm experienced with kids. I love the kids I'm watching now, but this mom is insane! I don't mind cleaning up after the kids, but I do mind being asked to clean the parents mess, especially since its never kept clean or appreciated! The 4 year old that I keep all day and the 1 year old are great, they listen, and they're good kids. Originally I was never supposed to have to do anything with the older kids besides make sure they did their homework if she wasn't home in time, but she NEVER gets home in time, and never even bothers to call and say she'll be late. I can't make plans to do anything in the evenings because even though I'm supposed to be off at 4:30 at the latest, I'm usually stuck here till at least 6:00. I'm expected to take care of all of them for the same pay as taking care of two. The oldest kid is 13 and he's autistic with anger issues, they have an 11 year old and he's no problem at all, and they have a 5 year old demon child that doesn't listen to anyone. I can't turn my back for a minute with the 5 year old because she'll put the 1 year old on the couch and then knock him off or hit him. He just turned one and isn't walking yet. The mom never has clean clothes for them, I can't even make fix meals for them without cleaning the kitchen from the night before, I hate even letting the one year old crawl around because I'll find broken glass and all kinds of crap on the floor. I'm a nice person, probably too nice... I've stuck around as long as I have because I really do care about the kids, and the job is only till the mom is off work for the summer and won't need me... but I'm finally realizing its not gonna get any better and I'm tired of being taken advantage of.
I work for a teacher. When I started I was supposed to watch a 6 month old and a 3 year old (they're now 1 year and 4 years old) Monday- Friday 7:00-4:30 for $250.00 a week... Then the mom started getting home late. Before long, she was an hour to two hours late almost every day, and I never got paid extra. Then, they wanted me to start getting to their house at 5:00 a.m. because the dads work schedule had changed, they increased my pay to $300.00 a week. This was supposed to last 2 months at the most and it's been 6 months... I get to work at 5:00, and she usually doesn't get home till at least 5:45, sometimes she gets home after 6:00! I talked to her about it a few months ago and for a few weeks she was getting back at 4:00 or 4:30 like she was originally supposed to... But now she's regularly getting back late again. I don't see the point in discussing it any more.
There's been days I've gotten to work and was locked out for 15 minutes until they got out of bed. I have to wake up their 5 kids, get the oldest three fed and ready for school, I homeschool the 4 year old that I watch all day, and I feed them all and help with homework when they get home since the mom is never home on time... When the kids have been on breaks from school, I'll have all 5 kids for 12-13 hours a day... and still only get paid $300.00 a week? The house is DISGUSTING. I've given up on cleaning it, I've cleaned before and by the next day its a wreck again... I was never even told thank you for cleaning, let alone get paid for it. It literally looks like a house from that Hoarders show!

The floors were covered in toys and soggy clothes and trash since they never clean. I used every towel in their house to clean it up, they had 4 clean clean towels so I had to get almost 15 towels from the dirty clothes to soak up the water. It smelled disgusting... And once again, I wasn't told thank you, instead, she blamed me saying that one of the kids must have put something in the toilet and I should watch them closer. I asked one of the older kids, and the toilet had been clogged the night before already! Today when I got to work, all of the towels were on the floor still soaked and stinking, and she asked me to get them washed.
I quit my previous job to work for them and I can't stand it anymore! I almost drove away today... She's neglectful, the kids never get bathed on the weekends, the house is always nasty, their oldest child is failing school, their 5 year old has the worst behavior I've ever seen... And she's pregnant with her 6th kid! I get paid Friday, I'm tempted to just quit then. Would it be understandable if I told them I'm not coming back then? This family has canceled on me several times at the last minute, I've gotten to work at 5:00 a.m. and they've sent me home because they didn't need me... And they'll tell me they won't need me, and then call in the morning and want me there in 5 minutes! I don't get paid when they don't need me. Part of me kinda wants to inconvenience them, just not show up without a word andmake them realize what they've put me through for the past 6 months! I'm too nice though and can't make myself do that... She gets off work for spring break soon, should I give her a notice that I'm leaving now, or should I wait till my last paycheck before the break and tell her then? I don't really want to give her much notice because she's gonna freak out and I don't want to deal with her, plus I wouldn't put it past her to just not pay me if she knows I'm quitting.
There's all kinds of crap I could write, but this is already too long lol I love the kids, but I've had enough!
