Op here. Our nanny is 66 and a mother of four. I think she was a stay-at-home mom/wife most her life but now she is divorced and has to work. She has a teaching degree but said its hard to find a job at her age. She has nannied part-time for two other families for 6 months before starting with us.

She is very good with our daughter when she wants to be, I just think she's decided to start slacking.

Your nanny is 66 and spends all day texting on her phone? That's unusual. Almost unbelievable.

It doesn't matter what you are paying her, OP. She is a lousy nanny, and a $15/hr lousy nanny isn't going to morph into an excellent nanny for $20/hr. Nanny quality is not a function of rate and it is the job that sets the rate. Don't forget that as you start your next nanny search.

You aren't a successful business owner, are you?
Or you'd know better.
