You go to unemployment office, apply, and explain that they refused to pay you legally. An investigation will be started and eventually you will get your money and they will get a hefty fine. Also, take them to small claims court which may be faster. Do not let these bastards get away with this. |
You're just jealous! |
Work legally and you won’t have to be begged to be paid. Many nannies will be receiving a higher salary with the added $600/week unemployment stipend. |
What notice is in your contract? Pay her that and void the contract. Allow her to collect unemployment while you lay her off. Offer her a bonus (and tell her the amount in advance) if she returns to work for you. |
Yes, they are (will be). |
It’s insane that your nanny would make more from unemployment. I wouldn’t, even with the added $600. |
Obviously, you are an idiot. |
Did it work? Were you approved to collect unemployment because you are scared of coronavirus? I thought you had to furnish a lot more evidence than that. |
She’s NOT coming back if you don’t pay her in the interim! WTF are you thinking? She’ll have a better job with decent people by then. |
YES YES AND YES!!!!Big thank you to all god people out there. In the end of the day we have bills too... Nanny here |
Well, we're both working and paying our nanny to stay home. It sucks, but it's the right thing to do. |
You still took the job. And now you're dealing with the consequences of it. By getting paid under the table, you are cheating the government out of taxes. So it's hard to feel sorry for you now that you aren't getting paid. |
How do you file for unemployment when you're not paid on the books? It means your employers never contributed to unemployment for you. |
It’s much harder but still possible, though will be extremely difficult right now due to the volume of people applying and being unable to speak with a representative. But, you can still file. You will need verification of income and both you and your employers will owe back taxes. If you want to collect from the government, you need to contribute. The government is funded by the tax payers, not a magic money tree. I would start by filing your taxes, then move to unemployment. The IRS can help you. |
You decline the job if they will not pay legally and don't pay on the schedule agreed. |
