If possible, we are looking for someone to drop him off and occasionally pick him ups. Some light housekeeping would be helpful. We require that you have your own car and that you really enjoy what you do. Must have references.

Are u effing kidding me?! $1,200 means 50 hours x 4 = 200
1,200/200=6
$6 an hour?!!!! And that’s not including overtime pay. A nanny share and they can only pay $6? I hope you let them know how ridiculous their pay is. They’re better off in daycare

Can they even afford daycare? They want to negotiate in that range?!? This can’t be real.

They need to ask grandparents to provide care.

I know this seems cheap but for those of you that are nannies, imagine trying to suddenly find even $300 a week extra for childcare. Its a lot of money for some people. Not all of us make 3 figures.

Then put your kid in a daycare. Or find a less qualified person who runs an unlicensed daycare. But don’t expect to find a good top notch nanny. Smh.

It doesn’t seem cheap, it is cheap. If you cannot afford a nanny then don’t advertise for one. Don’t hire an employee and take advantage of them. You are absolutely right that not everyone makes 3 figures (although I’m assuming you mean 6 figures) and that means not everyone can afford a nanny. It means you look for family members, unlincensed daycares, stay at home moms who are willing. But you most definitely cannot afford a nanny and then have the nerve to make demands about drop off/pick up, housekeeping and references. At that price point you get whatever is left over.

She said she was open to share too though, that is not unreasonable, depending on where they live. Not all of these are in the DC area

They might find a home day care for that amount but any good day care will be $2k.

It sounds like you cannot afford a second child.

I cannot believe people actually make excuses for this behavior. Sorry but $12 an hour for a share is most definitely unreasonable ($6 per family). From the sounds of it they would probably expect to pay less for a share and expect housekeeping on top of it. If you cannot afford a nanny there is no shame in that. The shame is in thinking you can afford one and putting an ad like this out there. If this is a good position to you then you should apply.

As a nanny who knows what they can and cannot afford, I make steps to ensure that I’m not in this type of position.

That’s exactly what I was going to say! Don’t have a child if you are unable to provide for it. You can’t whine when it was your choice to have a kid.

“Suddenly,” my ass. We’re not talking about getting hit by a bus, we’re talking about having children. It’s not exactly instant. Bed, made, lie.

Also, 3 figures?! If you say so.

Even with a share, she is not paying for housing or food and expects a car and car insurance which is $$$. No one could afford that job. She cannot afford that child.

Anonymous wrote:Hello, we are expecting twin girls at the end of August. We are seeking a assistance in getting the twins on the same sleep & feeding schedules and to help in general. Experience with twins and 3 references are required. Location is Derwood/Rockville, Maryland and support will be live in.

Daily rate $200-$250/day.

Depending on how many days are guaranteed per week, that actually sounds decent.

We understand that. But it’s your job to run the finances BEFORE you have a child, not assume that the most expensive form of childcare will work for you!
