Does your Au Pair work on Holidays? RSS feed

Funny, I don’t get paid extra for working on weekends or holidays, nor does my husband.

Our AP worked for a few hours today while my husband and I split soccer games for older boys. AP stayed with the youngest. This is partly why we have an AP. If I only wanted the experience of having a young adult live in my home, I would host an exchange student. If AP doesn’t want to work, she can find another way to live in the USA. APs don’t get government or bank holidays. Again, if that is an issue for them, they have this amazing thing called “freedom of choice” and they can choose not to be an AP.

Or they can ask about holidays while matching, and select a family with the same view.

If that program would be advertised properly as a working program Au pairs would be asking about:
time to get the stipend and its form,
sick days,
vacation & holidays,benefits,
briefly about medical insurance, car, ect.
Not how HP meet and personalities of the kids .

UM, they do. At least the ones I meet. They want to know when they will be expected to work and access to a car in the first interview. They already know the vacation policies, stipend, insurance etc.

Nice try Nanny troll.

The large agency fees HF pays include medical insurance coverage for AP, btw.
Rent, food, utilities, car and car maintenance, gas (in our household), medical insurance= plenty of pocket money.
