Would you mind if your nanny or au pair asked RSS feed

I wouldn't have a problem with anyone running a background check on me (at his/her own cost of course) but it would seem unusual.

I would assume she's the snoopy type, who wants to know your financials and go through your files when you're not home...

Paranoid?

No, it's completely appropriate in fact. Concern for the nanny's safety is as valid as concern for the child's safety.

You should at least offer the nanny a few references for yourself and your spouse.

I'm just stunned to see that our au pair agency didn't request anything from us regarding criminal background check. Only our word.

I would never allow my daughter to go live abroad in such situation. I would want to see the papers. And I have no problem giving out suck info about us either. It comes to show the girl has a family that cares about her.

Would you mind?

Is that legal, not to even do background checks on potential host parents?

Criminal background check + credit history run on us as au pair host family. It's part of the program and should be, IMO.

It's is short hand for "it is" part of the program. As in, you can't be a host family without it.

Are you the same person who dug up several old threads on the AP forum? Do you just drop in every few months, pull up every negative thread you can find since you last visited, and express your frustration with the injustices of being an au pair or a nanny? What's the point of that really? Would you like to share your story and insights or do you just want to spam us all day long?

Which mandated improvements to the AP program do you support, if any? Thank you for staying on topic.

Already posted that and you totally ignored it, which makes me think you're the same person who pops in every few months just to spam the board, refuses to engage in any kind of discussion and instead repeats unsubstantiated slogans over & over again, completely unresponsive to any thoughtful responses your initial inquires receive. Jeff already told you that's a misuse of the board. It's spam.

On the contrary, my friend, you're the occasional visitor here, unlike myself. I engage in discussion here almost everyday. But you are quite the control freak, aren't you? You stick out like a sore thumb.

+100. You're so right, PP, except you give her too much credit. She isn't expressing frustration. She's just asking the same tired questions in an attempt to start fights.

The same tired questions that allow your continued abuse of these poor girls.

Like why isn't there a 24 hour hotline number for them provided by the State Department.

And why are there no mandated statistics?
