There is no way you are paying some $15/hr and withholding all of the correct taxes.
We had a hard time finding someone at $20 that would do that. |
You can absolutely find a 15.00 nanny! We did and we live in DC. Most jobs in the DC area pay roughly at 13.00 an hour and require just as much time on your 'feet' and 'running around' . A nanny job at least has some 'downtime' when the baby is sleeping, and allows them to 'rest' and 'relax' when playing with their charges. |
You are clearly delusional. Seek help. |
The key is young woman still supported by parents. They'll take low pay forever |

I agree. |
Or broken English newcomers. |
Just wanted to level set some of the parents on this discussion board
1. We live in DC and we have a nanny for 15.00. She is amazing, but it did take us a while to find her. (#unicorn) 2. I can't even fathom how some nannies are making 35.00 an hour. That is higher than the majority of management jobs at any business! I guess that is why Nannies milk the employment. 3. Don't be afraid to keep looking. Good nannies are out there and are within your budget! As a parent, I don't get any commission for guiding you away from these higher nannies. My goal is just to educate |
I don’t believe there are “amazing” nannies in this area for $15/hour. Why would they settle for so little if they’re able to earn more? Perhaps the truth is that they aren’t really amazing at all. Or perhaps certain parents think that if she’s cheap, THAT is amazing enough for them. ![]() |
Do you think your amazing nanny doesn't know she can charge more for her amazingness, or do you think that she just loves you So Very Much that she doesn't care to earn 30% more? |
+1 How amazing and smart could they actually be if they are willing to accept $15/hr. Why would anyone skilled accept that when there are plenty of families willing to pay more. |
There’s currently a parent offering $16 for infant care in Cleveland Park. Heartbreaking. ![]() |
Better yet, there's now a dimwit in the VA nanny search looking for some poor person for $12-15/hr on just Sundays in Tysons. What's wrong with these ignorant parents? |
That sounds like a babysitter, not a nanny. Babysitters don't get paid as much. |
She’s not delusional, but she likely screens as well as McDonald’s does. I have been more thorough finding a pet sitter than some families are when hiring childcare. They simply don’t see the value in hiring a qualified person. |
