Families With Large Dogs RSS feed

I have been with my current Nanny Family (NF) for about four years.

Since I started working with them, they had a large dog who was pretty calm and friendly.
About eight months ago, they adopted another dog who was a young puppy at the time.
Well he has grown a lot so he is very large now but he still is in his puppy stage (I.e., very hyper, not trained, jumps up on people, etc.)

When he and the other dog play, they look/sound like they are fighting because together they can get pretty rough.
And when they play and I am standing close to them, there have been times that they have bumped into me, causing me to trip or fall.
Last Friday, the newer dog got SO excited when I arrived that he jumped all over me, caused me to fall and everything happened so quickly that I knocked my head against the kitchen granite counter.
*ouch

The parents are apologetic and yell at the dog but they really cannot do much else.
In the meantime I have started to dread coming into work because this dog can get pretty rough (ruff!) as he is still not even a year old now.

Any advice plz??
Thank you.

quit or train them

I find it irresponsible that these parents would own two large dogs while they have young children in the home!?

Totally negligent.

They need to be put up or separated while you’re there. Not your responsibility

I love pets but if a family owned 2 large dogs I would request that they be kept in a cage while I am there.
Which is kind of cruel if I will be working 8 hours.
I probably would leave for a family with no animals in the home.

I would request that the family put their dogs into an appropriate doggy daycare program while you are working.
