Hello fellow DMV parents,
Our extraordinary nanny of four-and-a-half years will be available for full-time employment starting in mid- to late June (after June 19), potentially with some flexibility to start sooner if needed. Karina is exceptionally experienced (20+ years), warm, thoughtful, reliable, detail-oriented, and a self-starter. She quickly became a member of our family, and she will be greatly missed now that we have grown out of our nanny needs. Karina has too many wonderful qualities and credentials to list, but here are some of what we found to be the greatest advantages of having her in our home 50 hours a week (7:45-5:45): - She is warm, caring, invested, and connected with all three of our children (now ages 9, 9, and 4.5). Our kids were 5, 5, and 2 months when she started with us. - She is fully bilingual (English and Spanish) and taught our youngest Spanish as she grew. - She is very safety- and health-conscious (e.g. safe sleep, hand-washing, baby-proofing, choking prevention, accident prevention, carseats). - She makes sure each day is filled with (typically free!) activities: walks, playdates and playgrounds, Nature Center visits, library visits, book-readings, lunch with friend groups, spray parks, arts & crafts, gardening. - She is proactive about teaching age-appropriate skills (from fine motor skills to manners) and reinforcing household priorities (chore charts, screen time standards, etc.). - She is always looking for ways to be helpful, even beyond the child-related household tasks that are part of her job description (kids' laundry, kids' dishes, occasional kids' meal prep, kids' rooms). Without any prompting, she often unloads our dishwasher, tidies up common areas, sweeps floors, feeds (and loves) our family cat, picks up essential groceries if she notices they are missing, etc. - She is a responsible and careful driver. (She has her own vehicle to get to and from work, and we provided a minivan for her to use during her workdays.) - She is efficient and organized, and helps us keep up with all the kids' sports and activities (and all the ready-to-go bags, uniforms, water bottles, and snacks that go with them). Her three successful adult children, and her close relationships with her prior families, are a testament to her positive impact on the homes she becomes part of. Karina prefers to remain in Northern Virginia, but she is open to considering positions in DC and MD. Please feel free to reach out to me (sarah.lochner.oconnor@gmail.com or 202.680.9178) or to Karina directly (571.426.2312). Karina can provide her resume and additional references to interested families. Best, Sarah |
