Using Car occasionally for work RSS feed

I work part time with a family doing 25 hours a week, however occasionally I have to drive the kids to activities.
How would I ask for gas reimbursement and possibly pay for car clean up.
It happens maybe once a week doing at least an hour of driving!

Gas reimbursement def but not car cleanup. Just don’t let them eat or drink in your car

Hi, I understand your situation. I’m a live-in nanny in Dubai and I drive the kids every day for school drop and pick-up and also take them to the park. I think you can ask in a simple and polite way, like saying that since you sometimes use your car to take the kids to activities, you wanted to check if fuel reimbursement and maybe some support for car cleaning can be arranged. It’s a reasonable request because driving even once a week still costs fuel and the car gets messy with kids, and most families will understand if you explain it nicely.

Work out your mileage. If you drive for 20 miles and your car gets 20 miles to the gallon you can ask for $4-$5.
You can’t ask for clean up.
You need to figure out if it’s worth it to you to ask for the amount you are driving.
If you get other perks I probably wouldn’t ask. That’s just me.

Let the family know you'll be keeping a mileage log. make sure you have the date, starting mileage, end mileage for each stop, and that you only go to stops for the kids/family. Submit a copy of the mileage log once a week or once a month (many families prefer monthly). Current rate is $0.725/mile.
