Few quick questions
How often do you feed your children? The pediatric recommendation is 3 big meals and 2-3 snacks a day, so a meal every 2-3 hours. I’ve been doing this for 20 years as a nanny, a snack is usually yoghurt or a fruit, or any junk food the parents allow the child to have…
This family only allows for 3 meals, the 1.5 year old doesn’t eat between 8am and 2/3pm when she wakes up from her nap (they want lunch after nap).

The dad moved his office to the room next to where we play all day, no door.
How to deal with that? The baby constantly wants to see him now and cries for him?

What to do with sick very young kids? They cry all day long and are miserable, but I can’t put the TV on for even just one show.
I try to do anything , books, play dough, stickers, markers
They’re just so cranky.
I’m not allowed to take them outside for a walk if they’re sick…

QUIT YESTERDAY

Have they given you a reason for no snack or lunch before nap?
I’d probably quit too. They sound to strict with their rules.

I’d quit too. They just sound super rigid. Hopefully they loosen up, I feel bad for the kids!

Wow…..

No screen time…..??!…..even if the child is sick?????

This family needs to take a step back and examine their priorities.

To tell a nanny not to put on a show, not even one show during a long shift is too much imo.

I understand how parents would not want a nanny who
has the kid in front of the TV all day long > but ONE SHOW is not a big deal.

Plus it gives the nanny a brief respite from caring for an ill child which can be very tough.

I’ve worked for one family that wouldn’t allow snacks but lunch was at noon .
I currently work at a school and it’s against the law for us to show children under age 2 screens of any kind so we do a lot of activities to keep them entertained. Outside a minimum of one hour per day. 4 curriculum activities, 2 circle times, art project and music and movement everyday keeps us very busy. I would make a lesson plan and keep doing activities every 15 minutes or so.

Healthy snacks are ok, but depending on meal time can be excessive.

No, you don't take kids out when sick. You can spread it to others and that's selfish. And, let them relax and get better. Read books, puzzles, crafts, etc.

A one year old should not be having screen time. If you are paying a nanny, they need to entertain the child. That is their job.

You must be a parent….a parent who expects their Nanny to always be “entertaining” their child - w/out any breaks during her entire shift.

You probably expect to stretch your dollar as far as you can > in order to get the most out of your child’s caregiver.

What you do not understand is that ANYONE, whether it be a child’s caregiver or a parent…..will sometimes need a break from their caregiving duties.
Getting a break ensures that said child will overall have a better adult in charge, not a burned out one.

A small or minimal amount of TV has never hurt a child.
If an educational program is on, then that can only benefit the child as long as the child does not watch it all. the. time.

It’s not like a child is exposed to a violent, sexual or gory program.

Or even Cocomelon which is supposedly () like crack for young children.
