14 month old nap schedule RSS feed

What is a 14 month sleep schedule like? I’ve been a nanny for 20 years and starting to think this family wants tot take advantage of me…
They’re saying she has to do one nap around 11/12 and no afternoon nap
Lately she’s been fighting at this time, so they’re saying it’s ok if she doesn’t nap at all
I mean she’s only 14 months and a lot of those age groups still take 2 naps…
How can I survive everyday 10 hours with a cranky toddler and a 3 year old inside the house, can’t take them anywhere ….
Do you think they just want to “get their money worth” out of me? Ty

OP
Should add they’re saying
“It’s best if she naps early or no nap”

A 14 month old doesn’t know how to take advantage of you. Yes, most 14 month olds still take 2 naps. I believe you have posted in the past. I would quit, not being able to take them anywhere is a dealbreaker.

I posted a while ago about schedule questions

14 month naps only once in the afternoon usually after lunch, from 12p-3p or 1p-4p
I follow mom’s on call program which works great

Some babies at that age still take two naps up to 16 months but mostly down to one nap. No nap at all is insane. And yes some people are penny pinchers and think Nannie’s should get no downtime. Which is crazy because we don’t get a lunch break like everyone else.

I cannot understand how someone could interpret your post OP as you thinking the 14MO was taking advantage of you.
I understood that you meant the parents.

Anyway - having to remain indoors for so long w/two young children would be a huge dealbreaker in my book.

And yes, your boss is very well taking full advantage of the situation.

Your job must be h-e-l-l.
I strongly encourage you to find a new position stat.

Wishing you the best!

How are the parents taking advantage of you? You wouldn’t be resting since you’re still caring for the 3 year old.

So she starts her nap sometime between 11 and 12… it should be about 3 hours, so 11-2 or 12-3. Nbd.

Finally they allow me to
Put the child
Down .
Yes they want you to deal
When the child is fussy so the child go to bed early when you leave .

At 14mos my kid was sleeping 10-11 and 2-330. But then bedtime started getting pushed later because she wasn’t tired. So at 15 months we went to one nap. Started out being 11-2 at first, then we gradually pushed it later and later. Until it started at 1.
So yes when they switch to one nap it’s going to be an early. You just push it later slowly.

Many do well with just one nap going down between noon and 12:30 and having a 2 - 2 1/2 hour nap. A few still need an additional 45 minute rest around 8am.

I have a 15 month old now. And he takes a 3 hour nap daily. Usually between 1-4 pm and then sleeps 12 hours overnight from 7:30-7:39
