The following is making me mad:
The 4 month old rolled over for the first time a few days ago and they decided to swaddle her again today! They aren’t using fitted sheets for the bassinet. They also use what appears to be a puppy pad under a pillow case so that’s TWO unfitted sheets. I check her regularly but can’t stand over her bassinet and stare at her 247. Her bassinet doesn’t have wheels and can’t be moved easily. She has a Snoo. It seems so strange they can spend $$$$ on Snoo but too cheap to buy the proper stuff. They may be too cheap or too lazy… no idea. |
Op here: this is after they told me they weren’t going to swaddle her anymore. They did purchase the Merlin suit a while ago and plan to transition to that for naps during the day. I feel like they put themselves first even though they knew what’s safe. They had to take a safe sleeping class at their OBGYN office. They told me it was required so they are choosing to not follow what’s safe. |

I don’t see anything here that’s unsafe. I wouldnt swaddle a 4mo but that’s just me.
I don’t think fitted sheets are even a thing in many countries. |
These responses are bizarre. I always let parents know up front that I will be following AAP safe sleep practices when I am with the child so if their bed is not a safe sleep surface (which includes no loose blankets/pillows/pads/toys and no swaddles once they can roll back to front), then I will need to hold them for naps. Which is fine, but may mean that other tasks go undone. |

Who is this her Mom boss? Standing over an infant for your entire shift is maybe okay in India but not the US. A pillowcase is an unfitted sheet. It’s not fine to swaddle a child that can roll over because it’s NOT safe. Why are you so uninformed? These are basics for babies. |
